THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala recorded liquor sales of Rs 665 crore in the first nine days of Onam season till Uthradom (Monday), which is an increase of Rs 41 crore compared to last year’s figure of Rs 624 crore for the same period.
The total sale of liquor through Bevco (Kerala State Beverages Corporation) outlets on the Uthradom day alone increased this year to Rs 116.1 crore from last year’s Rs 112 crore. Irinjalakkuda outlet topped the Uthradom-day sale with Rs 1.06 crore followed by Asramam Port outlet in Kollam (Rs 1.01 crore). Three other outlets which touched the Rs 90-lakh mark on that day were Changanassery (Rs 95.7 lakh), Court Junction Cherthala (Rs 93.7lakh) and Payyannur (Rs 91.6 lakh).
Bevco officials said that the total business expected till Avittam (Wednesday) is Rs 770 crore, which was Rs 700.6 crore last year.
